M. Victory perches upon our banners. The army of the Potomac, under the command of General Beauregard, gave battle to the enemy to-day, at Bull's Run, four miles from Manassas Junction, in a Northwest direction, and three miles to the left of the Alexandria Rail-Road. The enemy attempted to cross the ford of several points in great numbers, but were repulsed by our brave and determined troops three times, with heavy loss on the enemy's side. The enemy retreated about five o'clock in the afternoon in confusion, two of our regiments pursuing them. A large number of them have been taken prisoners. On our side, the casualties are few. [special Dispatch to the Richmond Dispatch.]the fight at Manassas.one thousand Federalists killed. Gordonsville July 19. --Three thousand of our troops and five thousand of the Federalists were engaged in the fight at Bull's Run, near Manassas, yesterday. The battle was fought chiefly in the woods. A grand battle is expected to-morrow, in which all the forces on both sides will be engaged. In the flight yesterday over one thousand of the enemy were killed. The loss on our side was only one hundred and forty-two, including killed, wounded and missing. The enemy to-day sent a flag of truce, asking us to allow them to bury their dead. T.
Body brought home. --The body of Lieut. Humphrey H. Miles, of company G., Capt. Wm. H. Gordon, 1st Regiment Virginia Volunteers, who lost his life in the engagement between our forces and the enemy, on Thursday, near Bull's Run, was brought to this city yesterday via Central Cars. About 25 wounded persons, among them Col. Moore, also arrived. The non arrival of Capt. J. K. Lee's body leads to the belief that the wound he received may not have been mortal.
