In a trotting match on Long Island, July 25th, Ethan Allen won the first heat and Flora Temple the second, and the race, owing to Ethan and mate running away with their driver, Flora trotted this heat in 2 20½. Among the Hessians killed in the late battle was Col. Wm. D. Kennedy, brother of the New York Superintendent of Police.
