mes Hogan, while on a bit of a spree, essayed to make the feathers fly from Lewis Gander, for which amusement they were committed to jail. James H. Gales was charged with stealing a revolver from Charles L. Martin: but his innocence having been established to the satisfaction of the Court, he was released from custody. Hiram Barnes appeared to answer an accusation of violating the chief article in the constitution of the Sons of Temperance, by which he was made to assume a false balance, but received no further punishment than the usual reprimand. Mary Vanderlip, for some cause to us unknown, fired a pistol at the partner of her joys and sorrows, for which offence against the peace and dignity of the domestic sanctuary, as well as that of the Commonwealth, the Mayor imposed a fine of $5. The public might deem it a pretty good joke if the husband had to pay the fine, but we doubt if he viewed it in that light. Several negroes were up for offences of the minor sort.
