ence proceedings, &c. [special Correspondence of the Dispatch.] Norfolk, Nov. 22, 1861. The examination of witnesses in the case of young Hughes, on trial in the Circuit Court, was concluded yesterday, and the argument opened by Simon S. Stubbs, Esq., in an able and effective address to the jury in behalf of the Commonwealth. The strongest points in the ease were clearly stated, the law fully and plainly set forth, and the character of the offence elucidated in an eloquent and impthe prisoner, with strong and convincing argument, and stirring appeals, that seemed to reach the minds and hearts of the jurors. Hon. John S. Millson, also counsel for the accused, will speak this morning, and after the closing address by Mr. Stubbs, Commonwealth's Attorney, the case will be given to the jury. The prisoner at the bar manifests great interest in the proceedings of the Court.--Charged with a capital crime, and his liberty, if not his life, depending upon the decision of
