Some important arrests were made in Maryland by the naval expedition which went down the lower Potomac a few days ago, under direction of a Government detective, and returned to Washington yesterday. The arrested parties six in number, prove to have belonged to a secret organization in St. Mary's county, for the purpose of conveying men and arms to the rebels in Virginia. A rebel spy, no entry returned from Richmond, with a large number of letters and papers in his possession, was also taken, together with a quantity of correspondence found in the different post-offices in lower Maryland.
