Truly, such a country and such people are well worth fighting for, and none will be more willing to do so than Taliaferro's Brigade, who, for six months past, have endured the hardships and sufferings of a severe campaign in the most mountainous and wildest region of the State. As we passed through the various towns on out march, the brigade was highly complimented on its soldiery bearing and general good appearance. The Richmond Sharp-Shooters, Capt. R. A. Tompkins, received particular notice, from their fine appearance and martial bearing. They bad just received their handsome uniforms, so liberally and kindly furnished by the city of Richmond, and looked as well and nice as they did when they first left the city. Perhaps it would not be proper to state the many reasons given for the transfer of our troops to this place, and, therefore, I will not mention any; but will furnish you with any important event that transpires hereafter.
