Another attempt at bridge burning. Augusta, Dec. 21. --The Rome (Ga.) Southerner, of the 19th inst., says that an attempt was made to burn the State railroad bridge over Petit's creek on Monday night. The incendiary was caught, and he was sentenced to be hung, at Cartersville, (a village in Cas county, and on the line of the State road,) on Friday last.
Sinking of vessels in the Charleston channel. Savannah, Dec. 21. --The Morning News, of this morning, publishes a statement that seven whalers, of the stone-fleet, were sunk in the Charleston channel on Friday.
Colonel Terry's remains. New Orleans, Dec. 21. --Colonel Terry's remains reached here this afternoon and were placed in state in the City Hall. They will be escorted to the railroad depot, en route to Texas, by the military and citizens.
