re Patriot, of the 7th inst, furnishes the following item: A small boy was caught down the Potomac near Alexandria, day before yesterday, having a number of important letters in his bootlegs. The young scamp was endeavoring to get down the Potomac in a small boat as far as one of the small creeks below Mount Vernon. This is a mail route now much in use by Secash. Senatorial election.
