Latest from Savannah. position of the Federal fleet--provision boats fired upon — effort to Remove river obstructions. Savannah, Jan. 29. --Six Federal gun-boats were at Wall's Cut, and seven were at the head of Wilmington Island, on yesterday. Commodore Tatnall's fleet, while conveying two steamers and flats with provisions toward Fort Pulaski, yesterday, were fired upon by the enemy. The engagement lasted about forty minutes, without any damage to our side. The provision boats and steamer Sampson, while returning, were also fired upon. The Sampson was slightly damaged. Fort Pulaski is now fully previsioned for six months. A letter from an officer of the Fort says that the enemy cannot take Pulaski by an attack. The Yankees are engaged in removing the obstructions from channels. They have other important defences to pass. The people of Savannah are firm, and confident of their ability to defend the city.
