Remanded for indictment. --Michael Sweeny was brought before the Mayor on Saturday, charged with robbing John O'Brien of $17 in bank notes. The defendant proved to be a party who had sold himself as a substitute in an artillery company in this city, the sergeant of which had expressed a desire to reclaim him. This fact did not prevent the Mayor on Saturday from examining into the merits of the case, and remanding Sweeny for indictment by the next Hustings Court Grand Jury, the theft being clearly proved.
