Our husbands and brothers are fighting and bleeding for our safety. Their bodies. under Divine Providence, form the only barrier between us and destruction. Many of them have gone and left their farms, with no hoards to till the ground; while others have left indifferent managers. We, wives and daughters, are but feeble creatures — raised in the lap of luxury, and little knowing how to depend upon our own resources. But it is to be presumed our hearts are in the right place; and, when this in the case, there is no calculating what we may do. We can illybrock to see those we love suffer for the necessaries of life, and especially while they stand between us and danger. We will arouse our-selves, and, girding on the armor of patriotism and the breast-plate of faith in God, we will march to our country's rescue. The lands must be tilled and
