Mr. Sparrow, of Louisiana, offered a resolution directing the Committee of Finance to inquire into and report what provision, if any, is made by law for the compensation of those who have, under the appointment and direction of the Confederate Government, made the assessment of the war tax in those States which have assumed the payment thereof. That if there is no law providing therefore, then said committee inquire into the propriety of passing a law for that purpose — Agreed to. Mr. Dutch, of N.
