The remains of Gen. A. S. Johnston. The body of the lamented Gen. Johnston arrived at New Orleans on the 9th inst., attended by his brother-in-law, Gen. William Preston, Col. Dudley, Major Munford, Col. Wickliffe, Capt. Jack, and others of his staff. The body was received at the depot by the civil and military authorities, and escorted to the City Hall. After the special escort had with drawn, the public were admitted, and the papers inform us that it was touching to see the reverence exhibited by every class of persons. The sword which had gleamed so bravely in our defence but a few hours he fore lay in its weather-staffed scabbard beside him, and the affectionate bands of the ladies among the spectators soon encircled with flowers the coffin of him who had died as a father defending his children.
