$20 reward. --Ranaway, from John Quaries's brickyard, in the city of Richmond, where he was hired for the present year, on or about the 15th of April, a negro boy named Humphrey. He is about 20 years old, well built, quite dark and full featured, with a small scar on one of his cheeks; no other scar or mark recollected. He generally looks down when spoken to. The last time he was seen he was on the York River cars, supposed to be on his way to Yorktown or some other place on the peninsula. He may have passed himself off as a free negro and hired himself to some company, as a good many soldiers were on the cars the day he was seen on them. The above reward will be paid if delivered to Miles C. Eggleston, in the city of Richmond, or to me, in the county of Hanover, near Old Church Post-Office. my 9--5t* Wm. Parsley.
Unpatriotic citizens. --A correspondent says that there is a number of men in the counties of Henrico and Hanover who ran off from Richmond a few days before the militiamen were ordered to report themselves. He thinks that the Southern Confederacy might get a few more soldiers, as these men would be shamed into doing their duty if they thought they were about to be detected. The reason that the country people do not report them, is because most of the fugitives represent them selves as over 45, though to all outside observation the majority are under that age. As they are strong, hearty men, capable of consuming their due allowance of "grub" as well as handling a musket, the writer thinks that the Southern army could be considerably swelled by appointing agents to visit every house in the country and ascertain the status of the inmates who have accumulated sine last Christmas.
