g rebel affairs. The War in Arkansas. The following intelligence from the Memphis Appeal is the latest from the seat of war in Arkansas, a section of growing interest in such connection. We are glad to see that the Arkansans are disposing of their cotton in the right way: Des Arc, May 10--The enemy are reported to have been at Augusta, Jackson county. They look possession of all the cotton in the neighborhood. They are reported to be in considerable force at Jacksonport and Batesville. Their destination is not known. Some of the Federal in disguise entered this place to-day, and after reconnoitering returned. They were pursued by the citizens. Seventeen hundred bales of cotton were offered upon the shrine of liberty to-day by the citizens of this place. The enemy are supposed to be under the command of Curtis. His forces are reported to be between eight and ten thousand. The report is brought from Little Rock that General Curtis's division of the Federa
