We have received the above work from the publisher, and take pleasure in recommending it as a book of intrinsic value. It is especially adapted to the times, and should find a ready sale among the medical men attached to the various hospitals. It gives very graphically the distinction between surgery as practiced in the army and in civil life, and also many interesting peculiarities in wounds and injuries seen in the Crimean campaign. In the republication of this work, the editor, Dr. A. N. Talley, has endeavored to reduce the bulk of the original, and at the same time incorporate all its more essential and practical features. The book contains some hundred and eighty-five pages, and is printed in good style and in readable type. It should have a ready sale.
