The Yankees in Florida.
--On the 8th instant, about daybreak, a party of fifty of the enemy left their gunboats near Jacksonville, Fla, surrounded the house of Mr. George Hewston, and ordered him to come out. He arose from his bed and opened the door, when the Yankees demanded a surrender; but he told them he would die first.
He then stepped back and picked up his double-barrelled gun, gave them both loads, then got another gun and fired again.
They at once shot him, (his wife by his side pleading for his life,) and dragged him forth dying to their boats.
It is gratifying to know that Mr. Hewston killed one Yankee and wounded others in the unequal contest.
