Insurrection Among the Mormons in Utah.
The following important news is contained in a telegraphic dispatch dated Great Salt Lake City, June 16th:
A band of persons, numbering about one thousand men, women, and children, under the leadership of one Morris, who claimed to be the "Prophet Moses, reappeared on earth," formed a settlement thirty miles north of this city, and committed numerous depredations on citizens in the vicinity.
They refused to labor for their support, believing that the Lord would supply their wants.
Three of their number, disgusted with the imposition, attempted to leave, but were arrested and placed in confinement, and heavily ironed.
A writ of habeas corpus was issued by Chief Justice Kinly, which was treated with contempt. --A sufficient time having elapsed for producing the prisoners, a second writ, together with an order for the arrest of Morris for contempt, and for the arrest of the leaders of the gang for false imprisonment, was issued.
