Heavy skirmish. Augusta, July 17.
--The Savannah Republican, of this morning, has a dispatch dated Knoxville, 15th inst., which says that a heavy skirmish occurred that morning at Wallace's Cross Roads, on the other side of Clinch river, on the road to Big Creek Gap. Two full regiments of the enemy's infantry and cavalry were engaged with four of our companies and cavalry, under the command of Colonel McLin. Ten were killed and missing on our side.
