Promotions. Brigadier-General J. E. B. Stuart, commanding the cavalry in the army of Eastern Virginia, has been promoted to the rank of Major General.--Col. Forrest, who commanded the recent successful cavalry exploit at Murfreesboro', Tenn., has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. Col. Fitzhugh Lee, of the 1st Virginia cavalry, to be Brigadier General of cavalry. Col. Hays, of the 11th Louisiana regiment, to be Brigadier-General Brig. Gen. Wade Hampton has been assigned to the command of a brigade of cavalry.
