Important arrest. --Wilson C. Hewitt, proprietor of the Hewitt House, at Liberty, Bedford county, Va, was arrested in that place last Thursday, charged with counterfeiting notes of the Central Bank of Alabama and the Merchants' Bank of Bainbrid $3, $4, signed C. Bon. President, and P. Cann, Cashier; of the Merchants' Bank, $4,000, signed by J. L. Long, Cashier. Hewitt's son was agent of the Express Company, and the packages of notes were thus received without difficulty. A considerable through Liberty. It is probable, also, that some has found its way to Richmond, and the public are cautioned against it. Hewitt was examined on Saturday, and remanded to jail for trial. Soon after he was taken into custody he contrived to swallow slieved to have been a roll of counterfeit notes, and the fact was noted at the time by the officers. It is supposed that Hewitt has circulated from $5,000 to $10,000 of the Liberty Savings Bank notes, which are scarcely less fraudulent upon their fa
