Heavy Confiscation. --The Knoxville Register says that Sam Mansfield, once a citizen of that place, afterwards a wealthy druggist in Memphis, was among the first who, under the excitement of the occasion, and perhaps under other external and internal influences, took the oath of allegiance to the Federal Government when Memphis was captured. He has been detected, imprisoned at Alton, Illinois, his drugs, valued at $100,000, have been confiscated, his real estate and negroes have been appropriated, and $75,000 in gold taken from his house. Of this last the Federal officers make no report. Gold, we suppose, belongs to the captors.
