It is stated that Charles A. Dana, former editor of the New York Tribune, was on Monday tendered the position of Assistant Secretary of War, in place of Judge Wolcott. Samuel Chilton, the attorney for John Brown, resides at Warrenton, Va. He thinks old John Brown precipitated the great rebellion. Gen.
