The extract which I shall read is contained in an address before the Historical Society of New York, delivered in the city of New York on the 30th of April, 1839. Mr. Adams argued in the address that no State had a right to nullify an act of Congress, that no State had a right to secedes from the Union.

Robinson, Adams & Co.'s sale, to-day an advance in several articles was denoted. Prime sugar, in bbls, brought 81@82 cents; in bags, 82@88 cents; new rice, 14 cents; green tea. $10.50 @$11.75; manufactured tobacco, 50@$32, extremeness for middling to fine; cotton yarns, $7.50@$10
