Anxious, therefore, to repair the blunders of the Administration and to restore the Union, the conservative statement here will oppose the further continuance of the war. Mr. Conway, of Kansas, a Republican member of Congress, and heretofore a supporter of the Administration, made a speech in the House of Representatives on the 27th ultimo--a most able and eloquent effort — in which he set forth the doctrine that the war ought to be stopped at once. Mr. Vallandigham, of Ohio a Conservative member of Congress, and an opponent of the ruinous policy of the Administration, had made a speech in the same House on the 14th ultimo, even more eloquent and logical in which he, too, set forth the reasons why the war right to be stopped at once.
