--A man J. L. Prewitt was arraigned at Mobile a few days since on the charge of marrying two wives, and was sent to prison for trial on the evidence. The Tribune says: It appears from the testimony that he has a wife and family now residing in Prattville, Ala, and that he married a young lady of this city on the 30th of January last, since which time he has been trying to get possession of her property, and has squandered a part of it. She, hearing that he had been married before, made the complaint and demanded an investigation. It was also proven that his wife, No. I, was in the city during the month of February, and that she was made acquainted with all the facts connected with his second marriage, and forgave him on his promise to quit wife No. 2 It was also proven that some lady (vested) had with trembling hand signed, or that is he held her hand while she signed her name to a document which is said to acquaint her with all the facts of the first marriage.
