There was an enthusiastic demonstration in honor of McClellan, who was present and made a speech. The Herald says editorially that Seymour's defeat in Connecticut "strengthens the hands of the Government, the unity of the loyal States, and our brave volunteers in the field," and proves "that the vigorous prosecution of the war is the prominent idea among the people of all parties."ident and the party who accompanied him to the army of the Potomac on Saturday will return on Tuesday or Wednesday.
