By the Governnor of Virginia — a proclamation. --Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the Senate of Virginia, by the resignation of Henry W Thomas, the Senator elect from the 24th Senatorial Dirtrict composed of the counties of Fairfax and Alexandria, Therefore, I John Letcher. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, by virtue of authority vested in the Executive by law, do hereby require an election to be held by the civil and military officers authorized by law to hold the same, on the 28th day of the present month, (May) for a Senator to supply the vacancy aforesaid. Given under my hand as Governor, and under the seal of the Commonwealth, at Richmond, this fourth day of May, 1863 and in the 87th year of the Commonwealth.
