The next day the firing commenced early in the morning, and was kept up at intervals for about six hours, the Yankees being strongly posted in the thick woods, with their flank protected by almost impassable ravines. At about 2 o'clock the command made its appearance, and the General prepared to make the attack. A portion of Col. Cluke's brigade, consisting of Cluke's and Chenanlt's regiments, supported by a portion of Col. Fifty dollars reward. --Will be paid for the apprehension of my negro boy, Charles, who left my house on the 13th inst.--Said boy is about 14 years old, badly grown, of ginger bread color, looks grum, has on the left joint of his left wrist a large scar, which causes the hand to be a little stiff, has very thick feet. The above reward will be paid for him if caught out of the county, and $25 if caught in the county and his delivery to me or confinement in jail so that I can get him.
