Judge Meredith held his Court yesterday, and disposed of such business as came before him. The Grand Jury met at the appointed hour, and after a brief retirement returned and reported true bills against the following persons: Iem Parker, Thomas Wilson, John Westerfield alias John Farrow Jas. W. Wood, William Tracy alias William Smith, and John Lawrence, for a conspiracy to escape from the State Penitentiary on the 8th of May. Joseph Blakman alias Joseph Walton, a convict in the penitentiary, sent last from Spotsylvania county, being identified as having served two terms, was sentenced by the Judge to five years additional confinement. Spencer Pennington, a free negro, sent to the penitentiary for robbery; Henry B. Hernandez alias Hampton Preston, rent to the penitentiary from Richmond, for grand larceny, each acknowledged themselves to be the same parties indicted for having served two terms in the State prison, were sentenced to five additional years' imprisonment.
