Home defence. --The employees in the War Department have organized a company, under the act of Congress, composed of non-conscripts, the object being to provide for "local defence, " and as far as their official duties will permit, to meet any emergency that may require them. This organization is entirely voluntary, established on an independent basis. Its members are ready at any moment to shoulder their muskets in defence of Richmond, and when called upon, we are quite sure will do credit to the department in which they are employed. The officers are; Re. White, Capt; J. H. Henry, 1st Lieut; J. Peebles, 2d Lieut.; H. C. Morris, 3d Lieut. The selection of non-commissioned officers has been placed in the hands of the officers elect, and we are quite sure the best men will be chosen for the various posts.
