Watch stealing. --The police brought before the Mayor yesterday a young man named John Howard, charged with stealing a silver watch, worth $150, the property of Thomas Smith. Mr. Smith, on being sworn, stated that Howard was innocent of the theft; that John O'Brien, now confined in the Chimborazo Hospital, had acknowledged the theft, and had given up the watch. Howard was of course discharged, and the necessary proceedings instituted to bring the guilty party to justice.
