Stealing money. --William, slave to Mary Sweeney, was before the Mayor yesterday to answer the charge of stealing $150 from Samuel G Hastings. Fifty dollars of the money was found where William had exchanged it. stated that he had given the $100 note to his mother — Anna, slave to Dr. Edwards--who was also arrested, but denied all knowledge of the money. Both son and mother were sent to jail for a future hearing.
