Casualties in the 53d Va. Regiment at Gettysburg. --Wm. Slaughter, of company H, and L. B. Robinson, of company B, 53d Va. regiment, returned from Fort Delaware by the last flag of truce boat, and report the following as regards those named, who were reported missing after the battles at Gettysburg: Lieut-Col. R W Martin, commanding, was severely wounded in hip and leg. The last heard of him he had written a note to his father. Major J C Timberlake, unhurt. Adjutant, Henry o; G E Mitchell wounded in shoulder; W H Poyner, killed; G. P Tuck, unhurt; Wm J Gary, unhurt. Company I--Lt J W Whitehead, wounded in leg; private J T C Glass, unhurt. In the "old barracks" there were said to be about sixty six of this regiment, whose condition was not known. In the hospitals at Gettysburg and Baltimore some of the wounded were left who had not been removed to Fort Delaware. Between the 15th and 18th of July the officers were sent from the fort to Sandusky, Ohio.
