the raid on Wytheville, writes an official report to the Yankee General of the exploits of the force. We copy the conclusion of it: Very unexpectedly to Col. Toland, and entirely contrary to our previous information, the enemy were found to have taken their position in the houses of the town, both public and private, besidettacked the court- house and several private buildings that were garrisoned by the enemy. The fire of the enemy was very murderous at these buildings, and here Col. Toland fell, pierced through the vitals while in the act of urging his men forward and disposition of his forces. Capt.
