David Heaton, a representative of the Treasury Department, left there on the 2d inst. for Washington on important business of a commercial and civil character. Gens. Among the victims reported are James Clark, Thomas Hillford, Johnson, Hewett, and Simms. The Yankees made no effort to restrain them. Mr. Vaughan, near Baker's creek, has been assassinated. Osterhaus has succeeded Dellis. His removal is attributed to his leniency. Grant is reported gone to the Southwest. The Federal Trans-Mississippi expedition has been worsted. Gen. Smith has whipped them at Monroe, La. The trains from Dalton run regularly. The enemy are threatening Northwest Georgia. Bragg's force is ready to meet them.
