Picking up a pocket-book --A negro man, named Thomas, slave of Major Ayres, appeared yesterday before His Honer to answer the charge of picking up a pocket-book containing $240, belonging to John Wilson. --The evidence proved that Thomas was seen to pick up the pocket-book, but upon examination there was no money found. In the opinion of the Mayor the charge of stealing was not sustained and the accused was discharged.
