y --On Saturday morning last the Central freight train started from this city for Gordonsville, but the engine being out of order stopped a short time near John W. Cosby's farm, three miles north of Richmond, and then returned. When the train stopped, a young man called James Jennings, formerly of Yorktown, left the train and repaired to Mr. Cosby's residence to wait for the cars. Mr. C. being absent, Jennings walked into the house, helped himself to a fine gold watch and suit of black clothes, and returned to Richmond. On the following day he sold the watch to L. S. Charles, whose acquaintance he had made on Friday, stating that he purchased it two urchased it two years ago. On Monday Mr. Charles saw the watch advertised in the Dispatch, and procuring the services of officers Davis and Chalkley, had Jennings arrested, he having on Mr. Cosby's clothes at the time. Yesterday the Mayor heard the witnesses, and remanded the accused to an examining court to be held next Monday.
