Interesting from Texas. the Sabine Pass Affair — Military Enthusiasm of the people — the currency, &c. Houston, Sept. 28th, via Jackson, Oct. 10th. The result of the Sabine Pass fight shows it to be the most brilliant of the age. Forty-two men, all told, were attacked in their battery by four gunboats, backed by a fleet of transports of twenty vessels, carrying over 10,000 men. We captured two of the gunboats with all on board, crippled a third, which afterwards sunk at sea, and sent the whole force back where it started from. The number of killed and wounded Yankees was greater than our entire number. The number of prisoners was eight times our entire force. The number of guns captured was more than double the number we had, and five times the weight of metal. These men were the Jeff.
