The Legislature. In the Senate, a bill imposing taxes for property and licenses for the support of the Government was reported yesterday by Mr. Taylor and appropriately referred. Several bills were passed, viz: A bill to amend the charter of the town of Ashland, in Hanover county. A bill to amend the 13th section of chapter 34 of the Code concerning the Virginia Military Institute. A communication from the Governor, covering a letter from Gov. Brown, of Georgia' and resolutions adopted by the Legislature of that State, was laid before the Senate. Besides the introduction and entertainment of Gen. J. H. Morgan, no other business of importance was transacted in the Senate. The House met at the usual hour, the privileged seats in the hall and the galleries being filled with visitors drawn, thither for the purpose of seeing Gen. Morgan.
