The bested engineer of Yankeedom, the wonderful Gillmore, who the Yankees declared had proved Beauregard a humbug, has taken himself off from Charleston, according to Yankee accounts, to try his engineering skill in some new field. One of their journals says that the siege of Charleston is virtually raised. Who is the humbug now ? Gillmore is destined, like McClellan, to sink as low as he once rose high in Yankee favor.
