ns many conflicting reports. Regarding Forrest's attack on Paducah, they state that he captured the place after four assaults, losing one hundred and fifty killed and one thousand wounded, among whom was Gen. Thompson of the 3d Kentucky. The Federal loss twelve killed and forty wounded.--Col. Hicks commanded the Yankee forces, which consisted of eight hundred. Forrest burnt all the Government stores. A telegram from Columbus, dated the 27th, say that Forrest was at Faulkner's, between that place and Mayfield. Their strength is much greater than at first estimated. Mayfield is filled with Rebel wounded, from 1,200 to 1,500 having arrived there. One regiment lost 101, and one company fifty killed. The Rebels was towards Clinton at last accounts. The steamer Perry was fired into at Pass Hickman. A dispatch from Paducah says Col. Ed. Crossland, of the 7th Ky., and seven of his guerillas, were captured near Mayfield. There was a heavy thunder storm and raid here last night.
