Lieut. Gen. U. S. Grant and our Generals.
--The following facts relative to the Commander in Chief of the United States armies are collated from the U S. Milit ry of the U. S. Army, by a correspondent of the Atlanta Confederacy:
Ulysses S. Grant was appointed Cadet from Ohio in 1839, being then seventeen years of age, ow now that he is the most formidable man that is opposed to us, by odds.
Grant is now in his 42d year, quite young to be at the head of all the armies in the d States; but I believe all, or most of Napoleon's Marshals were not older than Grant; though none of them had a tithe such a force as Grant has, and were under the Grant has, and were under the immediate eye of "le grand Napoleon le premier."
Of our five full Generals I give you their rank in order--States, when, how, and whence appointed; also, their eenth.
