City Council. --At a meeting yesterday morning the President laid before the Council the following communication in response to resolutions adopted by the Council on the 14th inst., on the occasion of the death of Major General J E R. Stuart, tendering to his family, in behalf of the citizens of Richmond, their heartfelt sympathy and condolence; requesting that his remains might be permitted to rest under the eye and guardianship of the people of Richmond, that they might commemorate by a are entertained by the people of Richmond constitutes a precious inheritance.
