s the following comments on Grant's and Butler's movements: The presence of General Grant in this city yesterday, en route either for Washington or the Upper Potomac, and the return of General Butler to Fortress Monroe, for the purpose, it is alleged, of recruiting his health, have given rise to a good deal of speculation in regard to future operations. It is quite probable that nothing further will be attempted at present, on the part of the Federal commander, before Petersburg. General Meade will scarcely undertake any new movements in the absence of General Grant, and although it matters but little, militarily speaking, whether General Butler is at Fortress Monroe or Bermuda Hundreds, it is, nevertheless, true, if there had been any prospect of a speedy resumption of hostilities, he would not have disdained to wear all the laurels which our correspondents are so lavish in bestowing on such occasions. It is useless to conjecture what General Grant's presence in this qua
