Sent on for Arson. --Americus and Jane, the two slaves charged with attempting to burn the residence of Mr. R. A. Tompkins, in Sidney, on Saturday night, had an examination before Justice James E. Riddick, of Henrico county, yesterday. It was proven that on the night of the fire the confused statements and voluntary acknowledgements of the negroes were of such a suspicious character as to point directly to them as the guilty parties, and they were therefore remanded by the justice for further examination before the county court. The punishment for the crime, if made out to the satisfaction of a jury, is death.
