North Carolina, in which the former engaged, for a pecuniary consideration, to obtain a passport for the latter to go through our lines, was resumed yesterday morning before Commissioner William F. Watson. The first witness examined was Mr. Henry J. Calisher, who testified as follows: Last spring (the month I do not recollect) a man whom I had before met with and recognized as, probably, a German Hebrew, came into my store, on Main street, and introduced me to a gentleman whose name, hetroduced to Taylor, and, together, we proceeded to the Ballard House, where I introduced them and then left the hotel. In about ten days afterwards, McMahon called at my store, on Main street, between Fifteenth and Seventeenth, and remarked, "Mr. Calisher, I shall hold you responsible for $2,000."
