Virginia Legislature. [Extra Session.] Senate. Saturday, December 10, 1864. The Senate met at 12 o'clock. Lieutenant-Governor Price in the chair.--Prayer by the Rev. Dr. Doggett. The roll being called by the Clerk, it was found that a quorum was present. Messrs. Johnson, Neeson, and Newman, of Mason, were appointed a committee to wait upon General Joseph E. Johnston, now in the city, and invite him to a privileged seat on the floor of the Senate during his sojourn here. A resolution, offered by Mr. Dillard, was adopted, instructing the Committee on Finance to report a tax bill as early as practicable, with a view to shorten the session by promptly maturing the legislation required on that subject.
