Mayor discharged Ferneyhough. Andrew H. Thompson, charged with cutting and stabbing William Williams on the night of the 25th ultimo was remanded for examination before the Hustings Court. The cutting of Williams was fully proved against the accused; but, in extenuation of his conduct, he professed perfect ignorance of having committed the deed, saying that he was raving mad from the use of liquor on the night of the occurrence and had no recollection of meeting with Williams. Reuben Manhaum, alias E. Morris, a young white man, was charged with feloniously, and by false pretences, obtaining one piece of worsted cloth, valued at $1,800, from Samuel M. Price, he representing himself as the agent of P. Levy. Christian Bergheimer, clerk at Price's store, stated that Morris, after looking at the goods, remarked that he would take them to P.
