Virginia Legislature.[extra session.] Senate. Saturday, January 7, 1865. The Senate was called to order by Mr. Johnson, of Bedford, President pro tem. Prayer by Rev. Dr. Leyburn. A communication was received from the House of Delegates announcing that body had passed a resolution referring a communication received from the County Court of Madison, asking the suspension of impressments in that county, to a joint committee, to consider and report on the same. The Senate appointed Messrs. Newman, of Madison; Tayloe, of King George, and Wiley, as the co-operating committee with the House. The Senate agreed to a resolution passed by the House of Delegates providing for the appointment of a committee of five on the part of the House and three on the part of the Senate to call on Mr. Edmund Bruce with a view of ascertaining whether the life-size portrait of General R.
